Michael Clement Floyd, age 61, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at his home, following battle with brain cancer.

He was born October 19, 1961, in Kissimmee, FL, the son of the late Hugh Clayton Floyd and Deverine Clement Floyd. He was a 1979 graduate of Franklin County High School. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a city mail carrier, where he served in the Lavonia Post Office for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church. Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved farming and gardening, was an excellent wood worker, enjoyed driving his Jeep, and playing with his grandchildren. Michael will be remembered for his kindness and always being willing to help anyone. But most of all he will be remembered for the unwavering love that he had for his family. His trademark smile and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife: Kim Scott Floyd of Lavonia; daughters & sons-in-law: McKenzie & Kyle Smith of Royston, Madison & Cameron Mason of Lavonia, and Macie & Mark Norton of Toccoa; brother: Doug Floyd of Carnesville; sister: Tina Ayers of Florida; grandchildren: Mavis, Clark, & Wade Smith, Miller Mason, and Ellie Norton; and many other family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 at the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Chitwood and Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Kendall Chappelear, Adam Floyd, Terry Floyd, Todd Gunter, Mike Ragsdale, Steve Rollins, Kenny Walker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorial donations may be made, in Michael's name to the Lavonia First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 47, Lavonia, GA 30553.
