Michael Dale Leavell, age 67, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at his home following an extended illness.

Born July 13, 1954, in Atlanta, he was a son of the late Virgil Dale Leavell and Jo Ann Ogles Leavell. While growing up he was an active member of the Boy Scout Troup 50 in Atlanta. After graduating from high school Mr. Leavell served in the US Army. Prior to retirement, he owned and operated MDL Painting, a company that specialized in painting commercial and business properties.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years: Cynthia Kay Riddle Leavell; children: Chris Owensby (Vickie), Charlotte Tyler (William), and Charles Nagle; aunt: Shirley Sams; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Christine Coolidge; and brother: Joseph Leavell.

Mr. Leavell was cremated in accordance with his request. The family will plan a memorial service at a later date. Flowers will be accepted at the home or memorial donations may be made, in Mike's memory, to the North East Georgia Animal Shelter, 870 Bear Creek Rd, Lavonia, GA 30553.
