Mr. Michael Theodore Sirko, 85, of 196 South Forest Ave., Hartwell, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 28, 1924, he was the son of the late John Sirko and Mary Elizabeth Motto Sirko. He was a farmer, a United States Navy World War II Pacific Theater veteran, and a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, James Michael Sirko of Denver, CO, and Frank Martin Sirko of Claysburg, PA; two daughters, Carol S. Dunn of La Veta, CO, and Janet S. McCart of Hartwell; one brother, George Sirko of Lomita, CA;eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Myrtle Feathers Sirko; five brothers, John Sirko, Bill Sirko, Steve Sirko, Paul Sirko, and Joe Sirko; and two sisters, Maria Margo and Helen Crocker.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sharon Presbyterian Church of Hartwell with Rev. Jim Lugo officiating. Burial will be in the Upper Claar of the Brethren Church Cemetery in Klahr, PA.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Sharon Presbyterian Church. The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharon Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1051, Hartwell, GA 30643.
