John Michail Wood, age 37, of Martin, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born June 28, 1979, he was the son of Candie Clark and the late Kerry Wood. He was a member and deacon of the Lavonia Church of God of the Union Assembly.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Kristen (Cape) Wood of the home; grandmother: Vera Clark of Martin; daughter: Leena Wood of the home; step-sons: Joshua and Caleb Whitlock of the home; sisters: Cala Clark of Ringold and Clarrissa Wood of Cornelia; and brothers: Kurtis Kidd of California and George Kinney of Martin.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Jaydren Butler, Rev. Jeff Betts, and Bro. Joe Saylors officiating.

Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or memorial may be made to the funeral home to defray funeral expenses.
