Obituary
Mr. Charles Michael "Mike" Hughes, 69, of Knox Circle, Lavonia, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his home.
Born on April 30, 1950 in Yokohama Japan, he was the son of Priscilla Wall Hughes and the late Jack L. Hughes.Mr. Hughes retired after 33 years of service from the Fulton Co. Department of Family and Children's Services, where he was a Social Worker Supervisor.He was also a US Air Force veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his mother: Priscilla Hughes of Douglasville, GA; his wife: Hwa Pong Kim Hughes; a son: Bobby Hughes (Amanda) of Hoschton GA; a daughter: Jennifer Murdock (Brian) of Lavonia GA; two sisters: Lynn Roberts and Deborah Moore both of Douglasville GA and four grandchildren: Jasmine Keller, Layton Hughes, Harlow Hughes and Kaleb Parten.
Mike wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date by his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 105 West Park Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30606 or to the Susan G. Komen, 3525 Piedmont Road 5-215, Atlanta, GA 30305.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
