Mr. George Michael "Mike" Moon, 63, of Hartwell, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.

Born on October 18, 1957 in Elberton, GA, he was the son of Shirley Sanders Moon and the late Leonard Shirley Moon. Mr. Moon was a hydraulics mechanic for American Hydraulics, and was a machine operator for Tenneco/Monroe Automotive. He was also a member of the Goldmine Church of God.

Mike loved his family, especially his daughter and grandchildren.He also had a love for music, enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.He shared from his garden and had a heart of gold. Mike loved being around other people, church and making people laugh and smile.

Survivors include his mother: Shirley Moon of Hartwell; his daughter: Jessie Pless (Jason) of Dewy Rose; three grandchildren: Landon Pless, Lucas Pless, and Logan Pless; two brothers: Steve Moon (Connie) of Canon and Lynn Moon (Traci) of Elberton; sister: Susan M. Cobb (Wayne) of Hartwell; and several nieces and nephews, who he loved as well. Mr. Moon was preceded in death by his father and a nephew: Cason Moon.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. At other times the family will be at their respective homes. During visitation, the family requests that friends wear masks and practice social distancing.

A Celebration of Mike's life will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 4:00 in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help defray medical and funeral expenses.
