Michael Robert "Mike" Reed, age 71, of the New Franklin Community, passed away on October 1, 2025, at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. Born on September 6, 1954, Mike was the son of the late Louie and Daisy Reed.

Mike was a 1972 graduate of Franklin County High School. He was a dedicated and skilled professional, having owned and operated Reed Plumbing & Electrical for many years. His commitment to community service extended beyond his profession; he was a member Rebel CB Club Ambulance Service, which was the first ambulance service in Lavonia. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Five Area Volunteer Fire Department, showcasing his dedication to public service and safety.

Mike is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Don and Kim Reed, sister-in-law, Patti Reed; stepchildren, Marty (Sandy) Horan, Mike (Tammy) Horan, and Maureen Horan; nephews, Wesley (Lori) Reed, Matt (Aleshia) Reed, and Brandon Reed; eight grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren; numerous great-nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Sue Riley Reed, his brother, John Reed; and nephew, Michael Reed.

A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the funeral home chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. Chris Trotter and Five Area Volunteer Fire Department Chief Barry Thornton. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to defray expenses or to the Five Area Volunteer Fire Department.
