Obituary

Mildred 'Midge' B. Albanese of North Augusta, South Carolina, passed from this life to the next on January 18, 2021 at the good old age of 98 (only 11 days from her 99th birthday).

Midge was born in Augusta, Georgia on February 1, 1922 to George and Mexie Bowdoin. She met her husband, Joe, in Orlando during World War II. They married just after the war, settling in North Augusta, South Carolina. They had two boys and together built a family and life together.

She and Joe were always up to something. Closing in a carport, digging a basement, taking 'her boys' on vacation adventures. It was a rich life, going to the NYC World's Fair, touring Civil War battlegrounds, Spanish forts in Florida and weekends camping at the Methodist Church Site. And always, at the center of everything was her dedication to family.

Midge was a leader in her community and church. She was the President of the Belvedere Women's club, President of the North Augusta Board of Realty (being one of the first women real estate brokers of her time). She was an active member of her Sunday School class and church, Grace United Methodist, where she was a member for 66 years.

The family thanks all the caregivers and staff at the Gables in Royston, Georgia (Midge's home for the last six years) for all the love they shared with her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Joseph Albanese.Surviving family members are Mike (Virginia) Albanese of Venice, California and Steve (Lynne) Albanese of Hartwell, Georgia as well as three grandchildren and four great grandchildren all of which she loved deeply. She will be missed.
