Mildred LeCroy Davis, 64, of Lavonia, went to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her loving family Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her home, following an 8 year battle with Corticobasal Degeneration.
Born August 17, 1946, in the Red Hill Community of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Loyd and Ella Ginn LeCroy. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Franklin County graduating Class of 1964 and attended North Georgia Technical College. Mrs. Davis kept the needs of her young family first while also working various jobs in the community and surrounding area. She retired from Ross Controls in 2006 after serving the company for 20 years. Mildred loved people; she directed numerous weddings and worked at Ron's Florist for many years.
Mildred was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church and enjoyed serving the Lord in a variety of capacities. She was president of the Joy Sunday School Class for many years and loved the women in her class dearly. She had a servant's heart and was always willing to help anyone, anywhere, and did so with a smile.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years: Harry Davis of the home; and two grateful children, a son: Kevin Davis and his wife Paula Hart Davis of Lavonia and a daughter: Stacey Davis Madden and her husband Jeremy Madden of Lavonia; seven grandchildren: Wilder Caleb Davis, Ella Grace Madden, Bonnie Greer Madden, McCall Hartley Davis, Davis Childs Madden, Ryker Jacob Davis, and Carolina McKelly Madden; a sister and her husband: Helen LeCroy Varner and Johnny; three brothers and their wives: James (Fox) LeCroy and Maggie, Harold (Chunk) LeCroy and Edna, and Joe Dan LeCroy and his wife Linda. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Donald and Dot Davis and Kenneth and Linda Davis Doker. Mrs. Davis also treasured eight nieces and nephews: Chris LeCroy, Karen LeCroy Phillips, Lisa Varner Godfrey, Tina LeCroy Wohlhueter, Wanda LeCroy Loudermilk, Wesley Varner, Alison LeCroy Foster and Bryan Doker. She had 19 great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece. Mrs. Davis was honored to be cared for in her home by five special ladies: Carolyn Alexander, Ellen Parten, Mary Frances Johnson, Debra Rousey, and Darlene Keller.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law, Bonnie Vaughn Davis, whom she cherished and was privileged to care for until she could no longer care for herself.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Richard Bielski officiating, with special remarks by nephew, Rev. Chris LeCroy. Burial will be at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Dr. Larry Finger officiating and special prayer by her brother, Harold (Chunk) LeCroy. Pallbearers will be her nephews: Bryan Doker and Wesley Varner and her first cousins: Jackie LeCroy, Jimmy LeCroy, Teddy Lecroy, and Swain LeCroy. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class and the Franklin County Class of 1964.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lavonia First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 47, Lavonia, GA 30553.
