Mrs. Gladys Mildred (Baugus) Gibson, age 78, of Lavonia, died Monday, October 27 at her home following an extended illness.
A native of Lavonia, born July 13, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Claude Cole Baugus and Mary Minnie (Williams) Baugus. She was a retired textile worker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Gibson was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers: L.G. Baugus & Hubert Baugus; and sisters: Mary Lee Doby, Delores Ballenger, & Carolyn Brawner.
She is survived by her husband: Bobby Joe Gibson; sons and daughters-in-law: Gary Keith Gibson & Virginia of Lavonia and David Lamar Gibson & Nancy of Arizona City, AZ; brother: Clifford Baugus; grandsons: Keith Gibson, John Paul Gibson, Chad Gibson, & Daniel Gibson; great-grandsons: Ian, Brenden, Chase, & Jaylon Gibson; and great-granddaughters: Jaeleigh, Cayla, Carlee, & Kaylen Gibson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Ross Layne and Rev. Bill Stacey officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. David Wilson officiating.
