Mr. Thomas Milford Marett, age 95, of Lavonia, died Saturday, July 10 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.
A lifelong resident of Hart and Franklin Counties, he was born June 11, 1915, in Hart County, the son of the late Thomas Lawson Marett & Mosie Lavenia (Reed) Marett. Mr. Marett was a farmer and a salesman with the Lavonia Roller Mill. He was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years: Mildred (Weaver) Marett; sisters: Ola Mae Marett, Lucille M. Griffin, Reedie M. McLane, Dorene M. Patsolic, and Grace Mitchell; and brother: McRoss Chappelear.
He is survived by his son: Thom Marett of Spartanburg, SC; son and daughter-in-law: Bobby & Phyllis Marett of Washington, GA; daughter and son-in-law: Loretta and Kim Dearrington of Huntersville, NC; sisters: Eldred Barker, Billie Howard, Gloria Ferguson, Glenda Hix, & Rebecca Dowis; brothers: Rayford Marett & Harry Marett; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger & Rev. Mike Smith officiating.Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery with Rev. Richard Bielski officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday beginning at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made, in memory of Mr. Marett, to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
