Obituary

Mr. Millard William Jones, 94, of Wiley Road, Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson SC.

Born on November 5, 1923 in Havana, MN, he was the son of the late George H. Jones and Fanny Elizabeth Smith Jones. He served three years in the U.S. Army during WWII, and participated in Pacific campaigns during his tour of duty. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. Mr. Jones was a retired manager from Lake County Farm Supply in California and a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church where he held leadership positions over time, Hartwell GA. Mr. Jones was a master furniture maker and woodcarver, and conducted woodcarving classes in the community in his later years.

Survivors include his wife: Betty Jo Ermish Jones; his children: Jill Ann Stucky of Charleston, WV, Patricia Gardner Parette of Bloomington, IL, Susan Gardner McHenry of Houston, TX, and Jerry C. Gardner of Melbourne, FL; one brother: Charles Harvey Jones of Minnesota; six grandchildren: Erica Stucky Nicholas, Erin Riches Wong, Sean Riches, Stephen Gardner, Michael Gardner, and William Gardner.

A memorial service celebrating Millard's life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church with The Rev. Susan Louttit-Hardaway officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 579 Fairview Ave., Hartwell, GA 30643.
