Mrs. Minnie Lee Pittman Crider, 98, of Hartwell, passed peacefully on April 4th, at her home in Hartwell, GA.

She was born on December 22, 1924, in Waycross, GA, and she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee & Cayce Butler Pittman. Minnie graduated as the valedictorian of Atkinson County High School in 1941.  While she was still in high school, she was recruited by a representative of Standard Oil Company, and  Shortly after graduation, Minnie moved to Atlanta, GA to take a years-long secretarial job with the company. Minnie was an avid cyclist, hiker, bird watcher and gardener.  For many years, she was active in the Appalachian Trail Club, National Audubon Society, Georgia Botanical Society, and many more clubs.  She was also one of the founding members of the Hart County Botanical Garden. She married the late Wallace Crider in Atlanta on December 20, 1947 and they were blessed with two sons.

Survivors include her two sons: Gary Crider, Phil Crider and partner Jenni; nephew: Kenn Pittman and his wife Lynn; four grandchildren: Brittney Mills, Shantelle Rivera, Trevor Boynton, Derek Boynton; and nine great-grandchildren: Alyssa Taylor, Kayla Taylor, Christian Taylor, Uriah Rivera, Isaiah Rivera, Jasper Mills, Chloe Bentley, Elliana Boynton and Brooks Boynton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Wallace R. Crider; and brothers: Neiland and Travis Pittman.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 10, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.  Other times they will be at their respective homes.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Minnie Crider will be held Monday, April 10, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland funeral Home of Hartwell.
