Mr. Jimmy Mitchell Carpenter, 71, of J. Bird Lane, Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia, GA.
Born on October 30, 1945 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Luther R. Carpenter and Emily Cantrell Carpenter.Mr. Carpenter was a retired butcher from Winn Dixie. He also was a member of the Mt. Olivet Church of God and Georgia National Guard.
Survivors include two sons: Jimmy Carpenter (Sheila) of Riceboro, GA, Brent Carpenter (Amy) of Gainesville, GA; one daughter: Melissa Myers (Russell) of Bowersville; four brothers: Alton Owens of Anderson, Donnie Carpenter (Sandy) of Hartwell, Danny Carpenter (Patsy) of Hartwell, Bobby Carpenter (Becky) of Hazlehurst, GA; three sisters: Linda Wigley of Bowman, Carol Mize (Larry) of Bowman, and Janet Dove (Doug) of Royston; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Carpenter was preceded by his parents and two grandchildren: Zachary Carpenter and Lindsey Carpenter.
Memorial services celebrating Mitchell's life will be Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Bobby Carpenter officiating.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening.The family is at the home of Rebecca Thomas, 150 Smith Street, Hartwell, GA. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to defray funeral and medical expenses.
