Mrs. Morene Jordan Sokol, 84, of Hartwell, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 23, 2021.

She was born on June 17, 1937 in Mt. Airy, GA, to the late Ace & Della (Brown) Jordan. She believed in hard work, patriotism, and family. Mrs. Sokol was a retired real estate agent for Keller-Williams Realty and formerly worked for American Heritage Realty. Morene was a member of various organizations which included the Habitat for Humanity, Hart County Republican Party, Hart County Botanical Society, and she served on the Hart County Library Board for more than 20 years. She was an active member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church where she organized the monthly church blood drive.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law: Cindy C. Hensley of Bowersville; step-son: Eugene Sokol (Tammy) of Hartwell; sister: Mary Fowler of Carnesville; two granddaughters: Melissa Turpin and Victoria Carpenter (Brian); grandson: Christopher Sokol; and three great grandsons: Nick Turpin, Noah Carpenter, and Ethan Carpenter. Mrs. Sokol is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Fred L. Sokol; son: C. Vernon Turpin, Jr.; brother: Harold Jordan; and three sisters: Geraldine Plunkett, Thelma Harbin, and Ann Willis.

Mrs. Sokol will lie in state Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Morene Sokol will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. A reception will follow the service.
