MSgt Jeffrey Randall Smith, U.S. Air Force Ret, 63, of Hartwell, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at AnMed Medical Center, Anderson SC.
Born on August 2, 1961 in St. Petersburg, FL, he was the son of the late Archie Delano Smith and Mary Lou Wild Smith. MSgt Smith retired after 21 years of service from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant, then later retired from REDCOM Laboratories of Victor, NY. Mr. Smith was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion Post 402 of Wayland NY, where he served on the Honor Guard, and was also a member of the VFW Post 8076 in Hartwell.
Survivors include his wife: Karen Monroe of the home; one son: Wesley Smith of Valdosta, GA; two daughters: Lian Drake (Damon) of Hatboro, PA, and Janina Kwiatkowski of Houston, TX; one step-son: Christopher Zane Simonowoicz of Hartwell; two brothers: Ken Jenks of Valencia, CA, and Christopher Smith of Canaseraga, NY; one sister: Christina Mitchell of Wayland, NY; father- & mother-in-law: Capt. Phillip A. Monroe, U.S. Navy Ret, and Barbara F. Monroe; and ten grandchildren also survive. MSgt Smith is preceded in death by his parents and one son: Nathan Smith.
A service to celebrate the life of MSgt Jeffrey Randall Smith will be held at a day and time to be announced in Wayland, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 8076, 173 Ack Powell Road, Hartwell GA 30643.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
