Mrs. Myrtle Poff Vanderbilt, 94, of 6932 Bowersville Hwy, Bowersville, died Friday, November 30 at Hart Care Center.
Born on January 15, 1918 in Phillipsburg NJ, she was the daughter of the late William S. Poff and Blanche Fitzer Poff.She was a retired Postmaster for the Finesville Post Office, Finesville NJ and a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Tina M. Bowers and her husband David of Bowersville and Norman Emmons and his wife Dawn of Nazareth PA; six great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and a sister, Edith Mulligan of Phillipsburg PA also survives.Mrs. Vanderbilt was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert "Pappy" Vanderbilt and three sisters, Lorraine Morris, Freda Fernandez and Wilma Poff.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Connie Mack Bowers officiating.Burial will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service.The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Tina and David Bowers, 6932 Bowersville Hwy, Bowersville GA.
