Nancy Amedro Field, 80, of Hartwell, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
Born on January 23, 1941, in Syracuse, NY, Nancy was the daughter of the late Harry Lockwood Amedro and Margaret Healy Amedro. Nancy was retired from the County of Onondaga and was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.
After joining Sweet Adelines International in 1966, Nancy went on to become the Director of the Spirit of Syracuse Chorus (Syracuse, NY) and most recently, Director of the Vocal Matrix Chorus (Greenville, SC).Nancy served Sweet Adelines at the regional and international levels, including being a member of the International Board of Directors, a Judge Specialist, Faculty Coordinator, Certified International Faculty, and was the 2017 recipient of the Sweet Adelines International President's Lifetime Achievement Award. As a friend and mentor to many, Nancy's legacy lives on in those she taught and inspired.
Survivors include her son, Edward (Karen) of Easley, SC, and two daughters, Lori (Mark) Pilon of Newnan, GA, and Kathleen (Michael) Bardell of Alpharetta, GA. Nancy had six grandchildren, Matthieu, Madeleine, Sarah, Michael, Beau and Claire, and a great granddaughter, Scarlett.Also surviving Nancy are her sister, Peggy Keehfus, and brother, Ted Amedro.Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duff.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
