Mrs. Nancy Kay Paxton, 87, of Rhodella Road, Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Hart Care Center, Hartwell.
Born on February 3, 1929 in Dooly County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Lewis Kay and Naomi Welborn Kay.Mrs. Paxton was a retired machine operator from Hartwell Mills and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Edward Paxton (Ann) of Anderson, SC, Ray Thompson (Kathie) of Orlando, FL; two daughters: Judy Slater (Frank) of Hartwell, Diane Madden of Sevierville, TN; two brothers: James Kay of Royston, Floyd Kay, Jr. of Canon; three sisters: Nellie Hembree of Hartwell, Jean Campbell of Royston, Shirley Martin of Hartwell; five grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Paxton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Thomas Houston Paxton; one grandchild: Sherry Slater Ridgway; two brothers: Luther Kay, Edgar Kay; two sisters: Frances Fleming and Leila Vaughn.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 21, 2016, 11:00 am in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Carter Tucker and Mr. Dewitt Tallent officiating.Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.The family is at their respective homes.Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the Sardis Baptist Church Capital Fund, 4359 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell GA 30643.
