Mr. Joe Nelson Ballenger, 75 of 291 Campbell Ridge Road, Royston, GA, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at his home.

Born November 30, 1931 in Royston, Georgia, he was the son of the late Joe Ballenger and Mattie Welborn Ballenger.He was a retired Policeman for Royston Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff's Office.He was of the Baptist Faith and a Veteran of U.S. Army Korean War SP3 7th Infantry Division.

Survivors include:Daughters, Carla B. Abuata of Decatur, GA and Lisa B. White of Yermo, CA; Sisters, Christine Herring of Royston, GA, Polly Bowers of Hartwell, GA and Naomi Ayers of Royston, GA; Seven grandchildren also survives.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. Rev. Eldon Massey will officiate.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the graveside. The family is at the home of Christine Herring, 129 Pine Valley Drive, Royston, GA.
