Obituary

Mrs. Nina Teasley Carter Pittard Wilson, 91, of Highland Avenue, Hartwell, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at her home.

Born on June 11, 1921 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Carey Cade Carter, Sr. and Nina Brown Teasley Carter.She was twice married; first to the late William F. Pittard, Jr. and to the late James F. Wilson.

She graduated from Hart County High School and attended Brenau College.She was associated with the Wilson's Stores for 50 years and was the owner of Wilson's Gift Boutique for 10 years.She was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church and the Live Wire Sunday School Class, serving as president and secretary for several years.She was a charter member of the Sallie Harper Circle having served as chairperson, secretary and remembrance officer.She served her church on many committees: Evangelism, Worship, Memorial, Nominations and Administrative Board.She was a charter member of the Nancy Hart Garden Club and a life member of the Garden Club of Georgia, a 50 year member of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Woman's Club, the Bell Family YMCA, the Wednesday Bridge Club and a committee member of the Northview Cemetery Association.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Cannon Pittard; grandchildren: William F. Pittard IV, Elizabeth Frost Pittard Poulas of Manassas, VA, Susan Claire Pittard of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Florence Louisa Alexander and her husband Blanton E. Alexander of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law, Mary Helen Brooks Carter (Mrs. William O. Carter) of Hartwell. Also nieces and nephews survive.She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William F. Pittard III; sister, Martha Eleanor Carter; brothers: Carey Cade Carter, Jr. and his wife Lois, and William O. Carter.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dean Kring and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.There will be a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Northview Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday night.The family requests special memorials may be sent to Hartwell First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Howell Street, Hartwell, GA30643.
