Mrs. Opal Lee Holland Koon, age 78 of 72 Colfax Street, Hartwell, Ga., died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006 at Hart County Hospital.

Born June 26, 1929 in Atlanta, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Johnny Holland and Annie Louise Holland. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

She is survived by: sons, Johnny Koon, Conyers, Ga., and Wayne Koon, Toccoa, Ga., daughters, Peggy Bradford, Canon, Ga., June Crowe, Canon, Ga., and Connie Coker, Hartwell, Ga., brother, Leslie Holland, Duluth, Ga., sister, Henrietta Holland, Atlanta, Ga. Sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernest Howell Koon, sons, Ralph Koon and Richard Koon, and by sisters, Barbara Jackson and Betty House.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Rev. Gary Stewart will officiate. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart memorial Park.

The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. The family will be at the home of Bonnie Beatenbo, 553 College Avenue, Canon. Ga.

Strickland Funeral Home-Hartwell Chapel will be in charge.
