Obituary

Mr. Opel Hambrick, age 75, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Spring Valley Nursing Home in Elberton.
Born May 12, 1934 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late James Raul Hambrick and Sally Mae (Bowman) Hambrick. He was a US Army veteran, where he served during the Korean War. He was a retired machine operator with Springs Industries.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Elsie Lunsford, a brother: Roy Hambrick; and two grandchildren: Dawn Hambrick & Justin Hambrick.
He is survived by daughters: Sally Mae Massey, Doria Finley, & Alice Holmes; sons: Richard Hambrick, Robert Hambrick, & Jessie Hambrick; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Clarks Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dorsey Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m. Thursday.
