Mr. Oscar Lee Harris, Sr., age 89, of Lavonia, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at his home.
Born May 8, 1924, in Franklin, County, he was the son of the late William Oscar and Maggie (Floyd) Harris. He retired as a truck driver for Phil Owens Used Cars and was a WWII veteran of the US Army. Mr. Harris was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Louise Bennett and Roselle Roberson.
Survivors include his wife: Carrie Lou (Perkins) Harris; sons: Oscar Lee Harris, Jr., Steve Harris, Mike Harris & Keith Harris; daughter: Janet Charles; grandchildren: Christy Fleeman, Beth Harris, Brian Harris, Josh Harris, Kim Mann, Tim Harris, Misty Rice, Niki Stinson & Natalie Geiger.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Childress and Rev. John Forbes officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens - North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
