Mrs. Ostene Bailey Walters, 91, wife of Mell William Walters for 70 years, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.

Born in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jeptha Bailey, Sr. and Lula Chastain Bailey.She was a homemaker and member of Reed Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Thomas Mell Walters of Nashville, TN and daughter, Andrea Walters Harris of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her son, David Bailey Walters.She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashley Walters, Andrew Walters, Robert Harris, William Harris, and Ian Walters; one brother, Jep Bailey, Jr. and one sister, Marlene Jarrett, both of Hartwell.Those preceding her in death in addition to her son are sisters, Auree Kotal, Lee Wanak, Libby Sheriff, and Colleen Mabry.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sam Dulaney officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends and family from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.In lieu of flowers, special memorials may be made to Reed Creek Baptist Church, 116 Boleman Hill Road, Hartwell, GA30643
