Mr. James Owen "Big O" Waller, age 64, of Canon, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Athens, GA.
Born July 27, 1954, in Newnan, GA, he was the son of the late Alfred Waller and Dorothy Stevens Waller and brother of the late Harley Waller. Owen was a retired pipefitter and carpenter. He was an avid fisherman and arrowhead collector. "Papa O" loved life, his family, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 35 years: Lynn N. Waller; mother-in-law: Claudene Nalley of Canon; sons: Harley Waller (Jamie) of Anderson, SC and Ricky Shedd (Angie) of Red Hill; daughters: Marisa Campbell (Stacey) of Hartwell and Christy Ferguson (Richard) of Rome; grandchildren: Brannon Shedd, Chase Waller, Lance Shiflet, Brian Shedd, Emily Shiflet, Farrah King, Cescily King, Avery Ferguson, Echota Campbell, Tilley Campbell, and Brooklynn Waller; brothers: Emory Waller of Royston, Steve Waller (Kim) of NC, and Mark Waller (Tami) of Hartwell; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Mike Fulghum, his longtime friend, officiating the service remembering Big O as we all knew him and loved him. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the North East Georgia Animal Shelter, 870 Bear Creek Road, Lavonia, GA 30553 or Burton Trout Hatchery 3695 Hwy 197 Clarkesville, GA 30523.
