Mr. Paul Talmadge Jones, 70, of 74 Homestead Rd., Hartwell, died Saturday, October 04, 2008 at his home.

Born on September 18, 1938 in Hart Co. GA, he was the son of the late Hollis C. Jones and Mattie Nell Evans Jones.He was retired from Tenneco ( Monroe Auto Equipment Co. ) with 44 years of service. He was an honorary firefighter were he serve 4 years at Hart County Central Fire Department. He was a member at Hartwell First Presbyterian Church where he served as a former Deacon. He also was a former Boy Scout leader. He also enjoyed hurting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Louise McKern Jones of the home; Two children, a daughter: Tami Jones Teasley and her husband J. Donald Teasley and a son: Todd McKern Jones and his wife Cindy T. Jones all of Hartwell. Two granddaughters: Angela T. Crowe and her husband David Crowe of Bowman and Mecessa C. Jones of Hartwell. Two Step Grandchildren: Steven Goldsmith and Amber G. Dutton and her husband Matthew of Hartwell. Two step great children: Hunter and Brison Dutton of Hartwell. Four brothers: Roy Jones &Robert Jones both of Hartwell, T. J. Jones of Starr, S.C. and Bill Jones of Iron Station, N.C.. Four sisters: Mary Grace Vaughn, Ruby Donald, Sarah Jane Jennings and Susie Van Fossen all of Hartwell. He was preceded in death by a sister: Martha Inez Jones and two brothers: Frank F.C. Jones and John Henry Jones. He was also survived by a very special friend Terry Reid of Hartwell, Ga.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Steven Nelms and Layman Randy Byrum officiating.Burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Johnny Stowe and Layman Fred Greenway officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First Presbyterian Church P.O Box 1279 Hartwell, GA 30643 and to the Hart County Central Fire Department c/o Jerry Byrum 800 Chandler St. Hartwell, Ga. 30643.
