Early Monday morning on May 25, 2015 just as the sun rose over beautiful Lake Hartwell, Paul "NuNu" Battaglia left our world. He was seventeen.
Diagnosed a year ago with a rare, soft tissue cancer called "Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma", NuNu may have lost weight and hair throughout the extensive treatments, but he never lost his extraordinary will to live, his incredibly radiant smile or his heart as big as the lake he lived on.
A member of the class of 2016 at Hart County High School, NuNu enjoyed a large and varied circle of friends. His friends were as unique and individual as he was, a testament to his unconditional spirit and limitless love for everyone around him.He saw the highest good and the purest potential in everyone he met, constantly encouraging those around him to be their best selves.
NuNu's goals after high school included moving to Colorado to set up a tiny house community for families of children dealing with medical crises, and participating in medical cannabis research for teens and children with cancer. He also had aspirations of becoming a makeup artist and aesthetician.
NuNu was the youngest son of Paul and Amy Battaglia, and the beloved little brother of John Kozachyn, Stephen Battaglia and Quentin Thornton. He leaves behind his fiancé', Mr. Trenton Lee, his grandparents Mr. Paul Battaglia Sr., Mr. Bob Bennett, Mrs. Linda Garner, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Mary Shedd.
A Celebration of Life memorial service and BBQ will be held at Watson Mill State Park, Saturday June 20th at 11am.Everyone is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Paul "NuNu" Battaglia Memorial Fund (gofundme.com/Nunumemorialfund).
