Mr. Joseph Paul Johnson, 81, of Sunset Drive, Hartwell, died Monday, January 19, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born on June 5, 1933 in Hart County, he was the son of the late Joe Howard Johnson and Eliza Lou Harris Johnson.He was retired from Johnson's Auto Service Center and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Charlotte Crook Johnson of the home; three sons: Larry Johnson and Brenda of Hartwell, Dalton Johnson and Joan, Frankie Johnson and Tamara all of Canon; three grandchildren: Brandon Johnson and Sarah, Lacie Johnson and Scott Johnson; four great grandchildren: Ava Kay Carey, Adah Grace Johnson, Charleigh Johnson and Reagan Johnson and one sister: Jo Ellen Kotal also survive.Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by one brother: Thomas Johnson and one sister: Elizabeth Stowe.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Mike Griffin and Rev. Jerry Durham officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.The family is at the home of Dalton and Joan Johnson, 300 Joe Johnson Road, Canon, GA.
