IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggie
Salsbury-Simler
August 14, 1954 – November 28, 2022
Peggie Salsbury-Simler was born August 14, 1954 to Mazel and Vera (Fricke) Salsbury at Alma, Michigan and passed away from this life on November 28, 2022 at Maple View Retirement Center in Middleton, Michigan reaching the age of 68.
Mom spent her childhood on the family farm in Michigan and received her education at Fulton High School, Middleton, Michigan. She was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at the age of 13. She was married at a young age to Lester Giesbrecht of Winton, California. This union was blessed with six children. Mom loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed being with them. She loved to bake, entertain company, and work in her flower gardens.
Mom was a seeker of knowledge and always had a desire to learn. The quest for her education took her further away from her family, Church, and God than she ever thought possible. During the many years away from God, she met and married Brian Simler. It was his desire that Mom would return to the Church and her roots. After a reconsecration to God, she moved to North Georgia and returned to the Church. She remained true and faithful to her vows the rest of her life. Often she would talk about her desire to go home to Jesus. She longed for Heaven and to see loved ones gone before. Her faith in prayer was her abiding strength, and she spent many hours praying for her children and grandchildren.
She was happiest when she could be with her family, including her brothers and their families
Mom enjoyed traveling and held her trip to Israel as one of her favorite places to visit. She made many friends, and she was looking forward to her trip to Germany.
During her sickness the last year and a half, Mom expressed her love for God and her desire that her family would all be faithful to Him. She felt unworthy of God's forgiveness. She loved the North Georgia congregation and felt truly at home here. She was able to show her love to both her recent and former friends, desiring to make sure of complete reconciliations, and expressing regret for the decisions that led her away from God and her family. Later, she enjoyed the love and care shown for her at Maple View, reconnecting with the people of her childhood days. During this time, her dependence on God grew even deeper. As a family, we had many chances to say goodbye.
She leaves behind her children, William and wife Stella Giesbrecht of Ballico, California, Dwonn and wife Tamara of Louisville, Georgia, Wesley and wife Iris of Glenn, California, Sarah and husband Luke Peaster of Ballico, California, Sharilee and husband Bryce Litwiller of Charlotte, Michigan, and Angela and husband Christopher Unruh of North Georgia, 24 grandchildren, her mother, Vera Salsbury of Bethel Home, Les Giesbrecht of Ballico, California, two brothers, Douglas and wife Janet Salsbury and Kalvin and wife Donna Salsbury, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by Brian Simler and her father, Mazel Salsbury.
