Marguerite Marie "Peggy" Dilworth Deitle, age 92, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at her home.

She was born November 5, 1931, in Red Hill, the daughter of the late Charlie and Lila Yeargin Dilworth. She worked as a paraprofessional, but her life's passion was making a home for her family. She was a model pastor's wife, to her husband, the late Rev. Kenneth Deitle, serving faithfully together in ministry for 64 years. They began their ministry on their honeymoon teaching bible school in Rhode Island. She had a passion for teaching children about Jesus and loved doing the children's sermon at church. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and she especially loved making jelly. Mrs. Deitle will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters: Joy Faith Deitle, Gay L. Dowdy, and Kim Jordan and her husband Scott; son: Jeremy Deitle; grandchildren: Lila Dowdy, Bethany Jordan, and Kevin Jordan; great-grandson: Ben Jordan; sister: Mary Dilworth; brother: Anderson Dilworth; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Allen's United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. until the service. At other hours, the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to defray funeral expenses.
