Mrs. Peggy (Ford) Green, age 89, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Hart Care Center.
Born April 21, 1927, in Lavonia, she was the daughter of the late Henry Martin and Josephine (Grubbs) Ford. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia. She worked as a secretary for the Atlanta Gas Light Company.
She is survived by daughter: Debbie Cox of Lavonia; son and daughter-in-law: Michael Leland and Debbie Ann Green of Lavonia; brother and sister-in-law: Dr. Henry "Jack Ford" and Jenny Long Ford of Athens; grandchildren: Tracy Green Dove & David, Bryan Martin Cox & Christina, and Billy Aaron Green & Erin; and great-grandchildren: Cooper, Madison, Ace, Allie, Jennifer and Natalie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby Leland Green; sisters: Quida Jean Ford Timms and Maephene Ford Edwards.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning beginning at 11:00 a.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home.
