Mrs. Peggy Jean Herring Hale, 80, of Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at her home.

Born on November 16, 1943 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Effie Welborn Fleming Herring. Mrs. Hale worked in real estate for over 40 years and was the owner/broker for Hale Realty. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters: Dr. Laurie Birchfield (Charlie) of Seneca, SC, and Robin Johnson (Tracy) of Hartwell; three grandchildren: Haleigh Haney (Jonathan), Ryan O'Barr (Nikki), Brandon Lewis; and three great grandchildren: Weston and Riverlee O'Barr, and Bryce Graham. Mrs. Hale is preceded in death by her mother; her husband: Larry Hale; three brothers: Elbert Fleming, Theron Fleming, Gerald Herring; and two sisters: Lillian Cleveland and Sarah Lacobie.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Hale will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jeremy Beauford officiating.  Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
