Mrs. Peggy Weaver Kay, 91, of Canon GA, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 24, 2026 at St. Mary Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia GA

Born on January 7, 1935 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Luke Weaver Sr. and Neila Hilley Weaver, affectionately known as "Daddy Weaver" and "Mama Weaver". Mrs. Kay worked for many years at Bellcraft Mfg. Company as an inspector. After her "early" retirement from Bellcraft she and her husband Junior worked side-by-side for the rest of their "working" years on the family farm raising chickens and cattle. They were loving partners in every sense of the word and defined by their faith, humility, work ethic and outlook on life. She had a great sense of humor, loved people and openly shared with others in so many ways. She became affectionately known as "Ma Kay" for the rest of her life once grandchildren were born. She was a devoted sister, aunt, wife, sister-in-law, mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was an exceptional cook (which can be validated by anyone who sat at her table) and always loved for others to enjoy meals with them (and she always had plenty)! She was also a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, where she was a former choir member, helped with VBS and was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class and Women's Missionary Union.

Survivors include two sons: Steve Kay (Angela) of Jonesboro GA and Scott Kay of Sandy Springs GA; a daughter: Lesha Kay Jones (Tim) of Canon and a brother: Luke Weaver Jr. of Canon. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Evan Kay (Meaghan), Ryan Kay (Sierra), Megan Kay Mobley (Tyler), Rebecca Jones Barrow (Justin), Zach Jones, Ashton Jones Smith (Andrew), Ethan Jones and Eli Jones (Alexandria “Alex”); 7 great grandchildren: Kayde Barrow, Averi Barrow, Weston Barrow, Cohen Kay, Collins Kay, Amelia Mobley, Webb Smith and two on the way.

Mrs. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Floyd “Junior” Kay Jr.; a brother: Howard Weaver and six sisters: Ruby Nell Brown, Nina Bryson, Twin sisters: Eunice Ray and Bernice Pressley, Delree “Bill” Cleveland and Elizabeth “Tib” Kelley.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell and on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church. Other times the family will be at the home of Lesha & Tim Jones, 1152 Frank Crook Road, Canon.

Funeral services for Mrs. Peggy Kay will be Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church, with Rev. Luther Thomason officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church PO Box 396, Hartwell GA 30643.
