Mrs. Peggy Joyce Chitwood Skelton, 71, of Nancy Drive, Hartwell, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020 at her home.

Born on August 4, 1948 in Dalton GA, she was the daughter of the late Hoyt Lonnie Chitwood and Eloise Duck Chitwood.Mrs. Skelton was a member of the Mt. Olivet Church of God.

Survivors include a daughter: Jaimie Wicker (Tony K. Sr.) of Hartwell; three sons: Doug Campbell (Lori Ann) of Dewy Rose, Stacy Campbell (Marisa Ann) of Hartwell and Jason Campbell (Kimberly) of Elberton; two sisters: Winona Evans of Winterville and Polly Cordell of Hartwell; three brothers: Thomas Chitwood, Joe Chitwood and Ronnie Chitwood all of Hartwell; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Skelton was preceded in death by her parents; husband: H. Michael Skelton; grandchild: Andrew Campbell and a brother: Echota Chitwood.

Because of the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation.They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks.

A memorial service celebrating Peggy's life will be held at a later date to be announced.A register book will be at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell for anyone to sign.Also, anyone can leave their condolences and best wishes on Peggy's tribute page.
