Mrs. Petty Nell Young Chapman, 80, of 1894 Lightwood Rd, Hartwell, died Saturday, December 10 at her home.
Born on January 23, 1931 in Between GA, she was the daughter of the late Metz Albert Young and Mary Eula Stowe Young.She graduated from Business School in Monroe GA and worked for the Walton County DFCS and the OASI in Atlanta.Mrs. Chapman was retired co-owner of the Hartwell Music Store, former member of the Madora Garden Club and Business & Professional Women.She was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, former church secretary, former member of the UMW and Sojourners.
Survivors include husband, Joe Fred Chapman of the home; two daughters, Claire Chapman and Tina Chapman Howard and her husband Bo all of Hartwell; three grandchildren, Losha, Sosha and Toma Howard all of Hartwell; three sisters, Elizabeth Kirk and her husband Gene of Atlanta, Johnnie Langston and her husband Nathan of Woodstock and Joyce Head of Monroe; a sister-in-law, Dot Young of Monroe also survives.Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Morris and Edwin Young.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with burial in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
