Levis Phil Franks, age 89, of Rocky Ford Road, Lavonia, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Magnolia Hospice House in Conyers.
Born October 16, 1928 in Hart County, he was the son of the late Wallace and Eulalia King Franks. He was a graduate of Hartwell High School and retired from AT&T after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. Phil retired as a Sergeant in the US Air Force. During the Korean War, he served as a liaison with the 45th infantry division.
Survivors include son and daughter in law: Keith and Teena Franks; granddaughter: Jesse Franks, all of Covington; son: Rodney Franks of Conyers; daughter: Donna Franks of Covington; and brother: Edward franks of Union City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Joy Buffington Franks.
The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Doug Brown and Rev. Dick Huycke officiating. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service.
