Mr. Phil Lamar Harrison, age 76, of Lavonia, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his home following an extended illness.
Born October 30, 1935 in Lavonia, he was the son of the late Hoyt and Mittie (Thomas) Harrison. He was a graduate of Lavonia High School and the University of Georgia. After college, he taught vocational agriculture at Banks County High School. He retired as county executive director for Franklin, Stephens, and Banks Counties with the Farm Service Agency of the US Department of Agriculture. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Beverly (Williams) Harrison; daughters: Cindy Harrison Marlar and Libby Harrison Cleveland; and grandchildren: Katee, Lindsay, & Graycee Marlar, and Harrison & Parks Cleveland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters: Janelle Harrison Collins and Mary Faith Harrison; and brother: Thomas Hoyt Harrison.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Harvill and Rev. Edward Whitworth officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road, Martin, GA 30557.
