Mr. Phillip Haynie "Phil" Hix, 73, of Mt Olivet Road, Hartwell, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his home.
Born on May 22, 1940 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Milton Hix and Mamie Madden Hix.He was a former employee at Greer Furniture Company for thirty years and was a former Hart County Tax Commissioner for twelve years.He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife: Eddie Baskins Hix; children: Richard Hix and his wife Tabatha of Lavonia, Amy Taylor of Danielsville, Sheila Peardon and her husband Terry of Hartwell and Russell Hill and his wife Pam of Toccoa; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four brothers: Kent Hix of Hartwell, Leon Hix of Lawrenceville, Dean Hix of Marietta, Lemuel Hix of Hartwell and one sister Nell Parker of Ohio.He was preceded in death his parents and two sisters Ann Brown and Bobby Nichols.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Scott Mize officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family are at the home. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Building Fund or Sign Fund, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA30643.
