Mr. Philip Blocher, age 90, of Fair Play, SC, died Monday, November 05, 2012 at his home.
Born June 10, 1922, in Frostburg, MD, he was the son of the late Philip Blocher, Sr. and Margaret (Porter) Blocher. He retired from Kelly Tire & Rubber as plant manager. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Lavonia United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Betty (Sullens) Blocher; step-sons: T. C. Posky, Keith Posky, and Ken Posky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Dorothy Chaney.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Massengill and Evangelist John Massey officiating. A private entombment will follow in Oconee Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lavonia United Methodist Church or the Lavonia Church of Christ.
