Mr. Phillip Merle Cowart, 71, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at his home.

Born on September 7, 1953 in Commerce, GA, he was the son of the late Robert Cowart and Joyce Smith Cowart. Mr. Cowart earned his Associate's Degree in Commercial HVAC at Tri-County Tech, and worked for Trane Commercial Heating & Air Conditioning as an industrial service technician. He was also a member of the Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.

Survivors include his spouse: Jacqueline Cowart of Hartwell; son: Rodney Cowart (April) of Hartwell; daughter: Patricia Cowart Rowe (Daryl) of Athens; two brothers: Mark Cowart (Linda) of Nicholson, GA, and Steve Cowart (Bonnie) of Bowman; four in-laws: Steven Moss (Jimmie), Randy Moss, Scott Moss, and Nancy Savage (Kenneth), seven grandchildren: Linsey, Carley, Bradley & Caleb Cowart, Chris Rowe (Amanda) & Anthony Rowe, and Madison Rowe Dashner (Justen); and one great-grandchild, Cameron Rowe, also survives. Mr. Cowart is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Dwayne Cowart; and one sister: Cathy Cowart.

Mr. Cowart wished to be cremated and a service to celebrate his life will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Please address the memorial to the Office of Development.
