Mrs. Polly Vanna Bowers, 89, of 74 Timberlane Drive, Hartwell, peacefully passed away, Monday, November 25, 2013 in Boone, NC.

Born on July 5, 1924 in Royston, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joe Ballenger and Mattie Welborn Ballenger.She was a homemaker and a member of Rice Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Amelia Thompson of Hartwell; a sister, Christine Herring of Royston; three grandchildren: Michelle Sanders, Tabatha Freeman, and Tommy Thompson; six great-grandchildren: Madison Sanders, Sydney Sanders, Bailey Freeman, Jackson Freeman, Vanna Thompson, and Luke Thompson.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. The family is at the home of Amelia Thompson, 74 Timberlane Drive, Hartwell.
