Mr. Preston F. Carlan, age 90, of Carnesville, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospice House.
Born February 24, 1921, in Banks County, he was the son of the late Archie and Bessie Carlan. He retired from Toccoa Casket Company as a grinder and welder. He was a member of Clarks Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Pauline (Brewer) Carlan of the home; son and daughter-in-law: Jeffery and Yvonne Carlan of Royston; daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Dennis King of Carnesville; grandchildren: April Ledford, Brian King, Leigh Carlan, Chris Carlan, and Caleb Carlan; great-grandchildren: Breanna Ledford and Alexis King; brother: Odell Carlan; and sister: Maggie Lou. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother: Roy Carlan.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
