Mr. Rafe Roberts, age 84, of Lavonia, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 at his home.
Born in Franklin County February 22, 1931, he was a son of the late Luther and Lessie (Vaughn) Roberts. He owned and operated Robert's Dairy for twenty two years, was an avid Quail hunter and broke and trained horses. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by three brothers Ralph, Rufus and Raymond Roberts in addition to his two sons Dale and Mike Roberts.
A beloved husband and father, he is survived by his wife, Alma (Wilson) Roberts; daughters and sons-in-law; Marie Hendrix (Kenneth), Donna Walker (Steve), Patsy Adams (Dan), Beth Andrews (Tim) son: Danny Roberts, 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother: Rance Roberts and sister: Francis Phillips.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with military honors. Pallbearers will be Ken Hendrix, Luke Walker, Kyle and Kelby Andrews, & Brianna and Savannah Roberts. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.
