Mr. Ralph E. Whitmire, 67, of 937 Center of the World Road, Canon, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 21, 1945 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late E. Melvin Whitmire and Sudie Smith Whitmire.He retired from Plantation Pipe Line where he worked as a dispatcher.Mr. Whitmire was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son: Ed Whitmire of Canon; one daughter: Melissa Whitmire of Gainesville, FL; two brothers: Roger Whitmire of Dixon, TN, Leroy Whitmire of Anderson, SC; one sister, Carol Huff of Hartwell, GA; and five grandchildren also survive.Mr. Whitmire was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Rogers Whitmire; and one brother, Larry Whitmire.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
