Mr. Ray Columbus Hembree, 81, of 523 Parkdale Drive, Hartwell, GA, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Hart Care Center.
Born March 21, 1927 in Hart County, Georgia, he was the son of the late C.C. Hembree and Nettie Parker Hembree.He was a retired Electrician and Plumber.He was a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church, and the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690.He was also a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.
His survivors include:Wife, Nellie Kay Hembree of the home; Son, Douglas Ray Hembree and his wife Pamela of Iva, SC; Daughter, Sheila Carol H. Ginn of Hartwell, GA; Brothers, Talmadge Hembree and James "Howerton" Hembree both of Hartwell, GA; Sister, La Don Hix of Hartwell, GA; Four grandchildren, Jessica Hembree, Lindsey Ginn, Sasha Ginn and Elijah Ginn; Two great grandchildren, Madison and Patrick.He is preceded in death by: Brother, Carey Hembree, and two sisters, Lois Boggs and Lenora Macijewski.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Carter Tucker and Rev. Ken Brewer will officiate.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 – 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home.
