Wiley Reese Lewallen, age 75, of Carnesville, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC.
Born on October 6, 1948, in Franklin County, Reese was the son of the late Wiley Broughton Lewallen and Rozelle McFarlin Lewallen. He served his country honorably as a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Reese retired as the automotive parts manager for Williams Brothers Auto Parts. Known for his passion for collecting memorabilia, he amassed an impressive collection that included NASCAR, Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, Coca-Cola items, and more. Reese also had a love for singing karaoke and cherished spending time with his friends and family. He was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, Reese was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Gail Lewallen; his second wife, Renee Carey Lewallen; his daughter, Angela Blakely Duncan; and his sister, Lois Boleman.
Reese is survived by his daughter, Sandra Stowe; his former wife and lifelong friend, Gini Lewallen; his granddaughters, Nikki Blakely, Deana Blakely, and Tabby Alls; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Nate Bunner officiating. Reese will be laid to rest in a private service at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home of his granddaughter, Nikki Blakely, 50 Rainbow Drive, Lavonia, GA 30553.
