Mr. Richard Henry Cundiff, 80, 47 Cundiff Cir, Hartwell, died Friday, December 1, at his home.
Born in Chicago IL, he was the son of the late Iraland Hilton Cundiff and Roberta Cundiff Scott.He attended Georgia Tech and had a honorary Masters degree in Vocational Education from South Carolina Vocational Schools.He was a master machinist for Seaboard Railroad, retired from U. S. Army Corps of Engineers as a master electrician and was retired from Anderson Co. SC District 5 Schools as a Industrial Arts Teacher.He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Anderson SC, member and past president of the Athens Rock and Gem Club, member of the NRA, AARP, NARFE and the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge # 690.He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in WW II and Korean War as a master mechanic and also served in the U. S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include his wife: Ida Moody Cundiff of the home; two sons: Hilton Cundiff of Hartwell and Richard Cundiff Jr. of Gainesville; two daughters: Catherine Cundiff of Athens and Camoleon Bratcher of Hartwell; seven grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Cundiff wished to be cremated and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Masonic Rites.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Richard H.
