Mr. Rick M. Powell, 70, of Liberty, SC, formerly of the Liberty Hill Community, Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at AnMed Medical Center in Anderson, SC.

Born on December 18, 1954 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Lindsey G. Powell and Frances Louise McMullan Powell. Mr. Powell received his Masters in Communications from the University of Georgia, and was a salesman for Eli Lilly. He was also a member of the Sardis Baptist Church, and loved his cars.

Survivors include his wife: Virginia Farr Powell of the home; three step-daughters: Angie Hammond (Paul) of Spartanburg, SC, Debbie Deaton of Anderson, SC, and Kim Deaton of Sarasota, FL; two nephews: Scott Powell (Wendy) and Wesley Powell (Kim); one niece: Pam York (Grant) all of Hartwell; one grandchild: Dylan Hammond of Spartanburg, SC; and many great nieces & nephews also survive. Mr. Powell is preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Bobby Powell.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mr. Rick Powell will be Monday, January 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Mike Dobson and Ms. Glenda Ryder officiating.  Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
