Obituary
Mr. Frederick R. "Rick" VanWort III, 62, of Old Andersonville Road, Hartwell, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at his home.
Born on December 1, 1951 in Philadelphia PA, he was the son of Jean Pearce VanWort and the late Frederick R. "Fred" VanWort Jr.Mr. VanWort was a graduate of Western New England College and retired from Clorox, where he was a Research Associate.He was also a member of the United States Power Squadron, Golden Corner Lakes Chapter.
Survivors include his mother, Jean P. VanWort of Indianapolis IN; his wife, Gail Wilshire of the home; a brother, Thomas VanWort of Airmont NY; two sisters, Phyllis Ball of Roachdale IN and Susan VanWort of Indianapolis IN; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.The family will receive friends after the memorial service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens GA 30605.
